How it works
Online therapy for adults anywhere in Texas
The LAB Wellness Group PLLC is a virtual practice based in Frisco. All individual counseling happens by secure video, which means the person you work with is not limited by what happens to be within driving distance of your house. Here is exactly how that works, what it requires, and where its limits are.
Who is eligible
I work with adults. Because I am licensed as a Professional Counselor in Texas, I can provide therapy to clients who are physically located in Texas at the time of each session. Where you live, work or pay taxes is not the deciding factor — where you are sitting during the appointment is.
Being in Texas makes therapy with me legally possible; it does not by itself mean therapy with me is the right clinical fit. Eligibility also depends on what you are dealing with, the level of care it calls for, and whether my areas of focus match your needs. That is what the consultation is for, and if I am not the right clinician I will say so and point you elsewhere.
Why the Texas requirement exists
Counseling licenses are issued by states, and care is regulated where the client is located, not where the counselor sits. If you travel out of state, we reschedule rather than meet — not a technicality I enjoy, but a real legal boundary that protects you as much as it does the license.
How a virtual session works
- You get a secure video link. No specialized equipment — a phone, tablet or computer with a decent connection is enough.
- Individual sessions run 50 minutes, typically weekly or every other week.
- You will need a private place to sit and, ideally, headphones. Some clients use a parked car; it is more common than you would think.
- We agree in advance on what to do if the connection drops and how to reach each other if it does.
- Paperwork, scheduling and billing happen online, so the session itself stays about the work.
Privacy considerations
Sessions are held over a platform intended for confidential clinical use, and your record is protected the same way an in-office record would be. The part worth planning is your side of the screen: who else is home, whether the door closes, whether a household device might be listening. Sessions are not recorded. And if privacy at home is genuinely difficult, tell me — that is a solvable problem, and one we should solve before it shapes what you feel able to say.
Confidentiality is protected under Texas law and counseling ethics, with the standard legal limits — imminent risk of serious harm, suspected abuse or neglect, court orders, and disclosures you authorize, such as insurance billing. We go through all of it in the first session.
What telehealth does well — and what it doesn't
It works in your favor when:
- Your schedule has no room for a commute on top of an appointment
- You want a specific kind of clinician rather than the closest available one
- You live somewhere with few local options for adult ADHD or trauma-informed care
- Health, caregiving or transportation makes leaving the house unreliable
- Talking honestly is easier from a room you already trust
It is a poorer fit when:
- You are in crisis or need urgent, in-person or emergency care
- There is active risk of harm to yourself or someone else
- Symptoms call for a higher level of care, such as intensive or inpatient treatment
- Substance use or a medical condition needs coordinated in-person treatment or medical monitoring
- You have no private, consistent place to meet from
- You need psychological testing or a formal evaluation, which I do not provide
If any of those apply, virtual therapy with me may not be the right starting point. I will say so plainly and help you find care that is. If you are in immediate danger, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
Insurance and fees
$165 per 50-minute session for private pay, with several plans currently accepted, billed through Headway. Because insurance coverage varies by plan and employer group, check your own benefits first — the fees and insurance page lists every accepted plan and what to verify.

How to start
Book a free 15-minute consultation. You tell me what is going on and what you want to change; I tell you honestly how I would approach it and whether I am the right clinician for it. If we both say yes, we schedule a first full session and I send the paperwork. Nothing else gets decided on that call.
